TAU celebrates University Inauguration      

The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) celebrated its successful bid for university conversion on the 8th of December 2016 for the formal Inauguration of the University.

The celebration commenced with a Thanksgiving Mass at 2 p.m. which was immediately followed by the Inauguration Proper at 4 p.m. Congratulatory messages were delivered by the members of the Board of Regents, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) officials and government leaders who were instrumental in the measures of the university conversion. The University Symbols (mace, academic collar, academic gown) were also presented during the Investiture of the University President.

Dr. Max P. Guillermo, the first University President, delivered his Inaugural Address accentuating his appreciation to the sponsors and authors of the bills (SB 2744/ HB5833) which eventually led to the signed R.A. 10800. He also acknowledged the contribution of all the University stakeholders for their support and efforts in all aspects required and undertaken during the Universityhood process.

Six interns receive int’l distinction

Agrostudies invites TAU president in 2016 graduation rites

TAU President Dr. Max P. Guillermo joined the Philippine delegation invited by AgroStudies to take part in the Graduation Rites of the 11th batch of Filipino students deployed for international internship in Israel.

With Dr. Guillermo were CHED Commissioner Dr. Ruperto S. Sangalang, Dr. Rosalito A. Quirino of the University of Science and Technology in Southern Philippines, Dr. Rubi Hechanova of Sultan Kudarat State University and Dr. Gregorio Rodis of Bataan Peninsula State University.

Among the more than 1,400 graduates from 13 countries, six (6) students from TAU received awards. They were Anna Muriel Castro and Michelle Rafael (Excellence Award) and Janel Marc Matias (Animal Production), Ken Joshua Agustin, Kenneth Santos, Francis Lucido and Wilfredo Navida (Crop Production).

Ms. Michelle Rafael has been chosen to deliver a speech in behalf of the graduates during the Agrostudies Graduation Program held on September 1, 2016 at the Jerusalem International Convention Center. The graduation rites included 524 students from 28 agricultural universities in the Philippines, 71 of which were from TAU. 

Institute of International Education (IIE) welcomes TAU as institutional member

Going relentlessly!

Incessant to expand its global engagement and visibility, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) permeated to be a member-institution of the Institute of International Education (IIE) Network. The University’s application for membership has been approved in November 2016 following a meeting with Ms. Svetlozara Trocheva, IIE’s Senior Manager for Membership & Publications at the IIE Headquarters based in the United Nations Plaza, New York, USA.

The IIE, an independent nonprofit institution founded in 1919, is among the world's largest and most experienced international education and training organizations. Among the many IIE-administered programs are the Fulbright and Humphrey Fellowship Programs, the Gilman International Scholarship Program and the International Visitor Leadership Program, administered on behalf of the U.S. Department of State.

IIE’s major operations incorporate guiding higher education institutions in developing strategic partnerships, cultivating international multi-lateral research collaboration, building international education capacity at higher education institutions, fostering diplomacy through higher cooperation and connecting institutions for academic collaboration. From these activities, TAU endeavors to maximize its membership to promote its internationalization initiatives.

Among the 1,300 IIE networks all over the world, the TAU is the fourth member from the Philippines. The other institutional members from the country include Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST), Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF) and Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP).

 

 

TAU, now institutionally-accredited

The Tarlac Agricultural University has proven itself to be of high quality as it received distinction as an Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. Institutionally Accredited unit prior to its conversion.

As former Tarlac College of Agriculture, the AACCUP, Inc. recognized it to be the first and only state college in the country with Institutional Accreditation with Level I status.

The University was visited November 16-20 in 2015 and was evaluated on the quality of teaching and learning, support to students, research and instruction, facilities and infrastructures. Overall, it received a grand mean of 3.21, with the award to be given without any other requirements to be complied with.

The award was given during the 29th Annual National Conference of AACCUP held February 17, 2016 in Malate, Manila with the then College (now University) President, Dr. Max P. Guillermo and the then Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Maria Teresa SJ. Valdez. Both leaders recognize that the feat was only made possible with the concerted effort of everyone.

TAU leads DIAL program

 

The pressing national  issues on agricultural and rural development such as inappropriate technologies, institutions, mechanisms to support programs focusing on food security, agricultural competitiveness, export of agricultural products, and well-being of people in marginalized farming communities could now be addressed by the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) through the “Development of an International Agrotechnology Lighthouse (DIAL) Program.”

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has recently awarded the TAU-DIAL EDSA project team PhP 10 million as a continuing education program grant to carry out the capability enhancement for the said program.  Said budget for the five-year endeavor will reach to PhP 150 million in the development of this program at three different project sites: TAU, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) in Bacnotan, La Union, and Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) in Magalang, Pampanga.

To be implemented in collaboration with the Israel Embassy, the DIAL Program is an offshoot of the successful internship program of Filipino agriculture students in Israel, which is participated in by 30 SUCs in the country with more than two thousand recorded interns for the last nine (9) years.

TAU intensifies linkaging and internationalization initiatives 

Partnership. Internationalization. Mobility.

Such are the bywords that underscore the efforts of the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) in its pursuit to enhance its identity in the international scene.

Forefronting the University’s enhancement of its international reputation and visibility, TAU’s External Linkages and International Affairs Office spearheads endeavors for said pursuit – thus, linkaging and partnership development, internationalization, mobility and internship programs, as well as placement and public employment.

The ELIA Office leads in the development of international engagement to build partnerships that are grounded on the areas of student exchange, faculty exchange, collaborative research, publication exchange, joint sponsorship of conferences, consortia for program implementation, faculty-industry immersion, student OJT, agri-tourism program, etc.

As such, TAU’s accomplishment in incessantly exploring more partnership opportunities were propelled in its international and linkaging directions namely: Internationalization Engagement, Learning and Development, and Engagement and Connections.
