CHED engages TAU in internationalization conference, awards TAU with UMAP Lifetime Membership

In an effort to explore more internationalization opportunities, the Tarlac Agricultural University represented by the Office of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) and the Office of Admission and Registration Services (ARS) attended the Conference on Internationalization of Higher Education in the ASEAN Region: UMAP as a Platform for Academic Mobility on May 16-17 at CHED Auditorium, UP Campus, Diliman, Quezon City.

The two-day event was part of the CHED Higher Education Week as it celebrated its 23rd Anniversary having been established on May 18, 1994 by virtue of Republic Act No. 7722 or the Higher Education Act of 1994 which was authored by Senator Francisco Tatad.

On the other hand, UMAP is an association of government and non-government representatives of the higher education sector. The Philippines became a full member of UMAP in 2001 with which the country has been actively involved in UMAP Exchange Programs. TAU became a UMAP member-institution in 2015.

Another partnership endeavor by the Tarlac Agricultural University has been officially sealed as Dr. Max P. Guillermo, TAU President, signed the Memorandum of Agreement with the Guilin Tourism University (GTU) of China represented by Dr. Li Chunhong, Director for International Exchange Center of GTU during the Opening Program of the 2017 “Study in Guangxi” Education Exhibit at the Ateneo de Manila University on April 21, 2017.

With this, TAU and GTU shall implement exchange and cooperation on areas including any academic program offered by both higher education institutions. This cooperation shall be carried out through but not limited to: exchange of faculty and staff, exchange of students, co-sponsorship of seminars/academic meetings as well as arts and cultural activities, joint research activities and publications, and exchange of academic materials and other information.

TAU president joins Philippine delegation in the 9^th Philippine-Israel Joint Commission Meeting 

Sustaining 60 years of diplomatic relations, Israel and the Philippines validate their progressive alliance trussed by 14 bilateral agreements along political, economic, educational, scientific and technological cooperation. 

With TAU as the national coordinating SUC of the Agrostudies Student Internship in Israel which has been running for 11 years, Dr. Max P. Guillermo, University President, joined the Philippine Delegation as SUC representative for the 9^th Philippines-Israel Joint Commission Meeting held on May 4, 2017 in Jerusalem, Israel. The delegation was headed by Department of Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Hjayceelyn M. Quintana. Dr. Ronald L. Adamat, CHED Commissioner and Chair of the TAU Board of Regents also joined the mission.

The Philippine Delegation had a courtesy meeting with the following Philippine envoy based in Israel: Ambassador Nathaniel G. Imperial, Consul General Pamela F. Durian-Bailon, Labor Attaché’ Rodolfo G. Gabasan, and Defense Attaché Col. Raul P. Villanueva.

TAU forges international academic partnership with NPUST

The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) confirms its widening global engagement by linking with the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) in Taiwan through an MOU signing on March 10, 2017.

The partnership agreement was signed by the heads of the academic institutions - Dr. Max P. Guillermo (TAU President) and Dr. Chang-Hsien Tai (NPUST President). The ceremony was witnessed by Commission on Higher Education Commissioners Dr. Alex Brilliantes and Dr. Ronald Adamat (Chair of the TAU Board of Regents).

Two QS-ranked Indonesian universities distinguish TAU as first HEI partner in the Philippines

Progressively realizing its goal to widen global engagement and establish international visibility, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) steered an international partnership development mission in Indonesia to seal the Memorandum of Understanding and Memorandum of Agreement with the Brawijaya University (Universitas Brawijaya/ BU) in Malang and Airlangga University (Universitas Airlangga/ AU) in Surabaya, both renowned HEIs in the said country.

BU, a state university in Malang City, East Java, is one of the leading universities in Indonesia with more than 60,000 students across twelve faculties (colleges). It has been included in the 2016 QS University World (710+) and Asia (30-350) Ranking. On the other hand, AU is the second-oldest university in Indonesia with 15 faculties and more than 35,000 students. Consistently ranked highly in major world university rankings, AU has long been considered as one of the "Big 5" universities in Indonesia. This year, AU ranked 191st in the QS Asian University Ranking and 701+ in the University World Ranking. The same QS Ranking has put into record AU as the best university in "Citations per Paper" category in 2014.
