Tarlac Agricultural University’s (TAU) innovative Belen integrates traditional Filipino methods to craft nativity scenes centered around the theme of "fishing of men," preserving both cultural heritage and spiritual significance.

In this display, the typical stable is reimagined as a weathered fishing boat stranded on Bethlehem's shore, where the Holy Family finds refuge in a bangka, a native Filipino boat, adorned with delicate capiz lanterns, symbolizing the star of Bethlehem as well as their spiritual journey. Fishnets represent the disciples' future calling, while dried leaves provide comfort for the infant King. Three capiz lanterns, glowing like starlight, guide onlookers to the striking scene.

𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐍 𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐒 | The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) gathers its students, faculty and non-teaching staff, for the flag-raising ceremony, in front of the Gilberto O. Teodoro Multipurpose Center, 4 November.

The solemn flag-hoisting takes a more reflective assembly as TAU unfurls the flag at half-mast in observance of Proclamation 728, declared by Malacañang Palace, recognizing 4 November as National Day of Mourning for the victims of the severe tropical storm “Kristine.” The university joins the nation in paying tribute to the 1,788,630 families with a total of 139 casualties affected by the storm that hit the Philippines on 21-25 October.

Meanwhile, the University President, Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, commends the host of this month’s flag-raising ceremony, the College of Business and Management (CBM), led by Dr. Erlie SD. Totaan, CBM Dean, for its continuous dedication and initiatives towards academic excellence.
