โFutures thinking is not just about predicting what lies ahead; it's about actively shaping the future we desire,โ thus spoken by Dr. Max P. Guillermo, President of Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), before the members of Administrative Council (AdCo) during the Framing the Futures Workshop at Agritourism Hostel Function Hall on 22 September.
โAs the President of this esteemed institution, I am immensely proud that we have taken the initiative to organize this session, which promises to be an enriching and transformative experience for all of us,โ Dr. Guillermo continued as he urged the participants to challenge the existing beliefs, defy established norms, and envision possibilities consistently.
Setting sights on TAUโs prospects as its leaders tread the BANI (Brittle, Anxious, Non-Linear, and Incomprehensible) world cautiously, the Planning and Development Office (PDO) led the seminar cum training featuring speakers from Philippine Futures Thinking Society (PFTS).
Mr. Emmanuel R. De Guia and Ms. Jalaine Joyce V. Malabanan from PFTS steered engaging discussions focusing on a number of topics including causal layered analysis and compassionate anticipatory paradigm. Both futurists also clarified the meaning of futures thinking and its implications on an institutionโs innovation roadmap.
Beginning with a benchmarking visit at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) on 12 September, the universityโs Futureโs Thinking program was funded by Senator Pia Cayetano who chairs the Senate Committee on the Sustainable Development Goals, Innovation, and Futures Thinking.
Coordinated with the Office of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA), said initiative also involves immersion, research, and project development components.
