TAU joins in CHEDRO3’s simultaneous vaccination drive
To propel the immunization of the Tarlaqueños against COVID-19, the Tarlac Agricultural University has partaken in the CHED’s Regional Simultaneous Vaccination Program for Tertiary Students (RSVP-TS) last 19 November 2021 at the TAU Multipurpose Hall.
371 students received COVID-19 vaccine. 23 of them are students from other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the region.
The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office III (CHEDRO III), in coordination with the Department of Health Region III (DOH-III), Department of Interior and Local Government Region III (DILG-III) and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), selected 19 identified vaccination centers including TAU to launch the said region-wide vaccination drive.
The CHEDRO III aims to contribute to the 80% herd immunity target and to further protect the academic sector as means of preparation for a possible resumption of face-to-face classes after almost two-year rapid shift to flexible learning modality.
The CHED Chairperson Prospero J. De Vera has already raised the green light after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases approved the reopening of the universities and colleges for limited face-to-face classes in all degree programs in areas under Alert Level 2 status.
Chairperson De Vera has also insisted that “only fully vaccinated students can participate in the limited face-to-face classes.”
TAU shall facilitate the second dose of the said students on 10 December 2021 at TAU Multipurpose Hall.
Prior to this, the TAU, in partnership with DOH, DILG, and the Provincial Government of Tarlac (PGT) launched a three-day vaccination drive (November 3-5) and opened it to the TAU academic community and the public. 2122 received COVID-19 vaccine; 1473 of them were high school students with age 12 and above. The high school students received Pfizer vaccine while the adults including the TAU tertiary students were inoculated with Moderna vaccine.
The TAU and its IATF ensured the organized facilitation of the event in light of the national advocacy to suppress the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Thus, no student will be left behind as schools will reopen by December 2021. (RCalpito, PDO)
