๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ | TAU fosters gender empowerment through inaugural Inclusion and Diversity Festival
In a vibrant celebration of solidarity amidst diversity, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) recently hosted the โBeyond the Rainbow 2024: Inclusion and Diversity Festival, Come One Come All!โ organized by the Office of Student Services and Development (OSSD), in collaboration with the Gender and Development (GAD)ย Office and the TAU-Bulalayaw, the Universityโs first and only socio-civic organization for LGBTQIA+ students, on 18-19 April.
โBeyond the Rainbow 2024โ kicked off with workshops and seminars addressing various topics relevant to the TAU community. From discussions on local indigenous practices to raising awareness about HIV prevention, these sessions underscored TAU's commitment to addressing pertinent social and health-related issues. Additionally, assemblies on solo parenting inclusion, community accessibility, and inclusive project development provided valuable insights and resources for creating a more inclusive environment.
One of the festival's highlights was the collaborative project pitching session, where participants conveyed their ideas for inclusion activities and programs to promote unity within the TAU community. From cultural exchange events to mentorship programs, the pitches showcased the creativity and dedication of TAU students, faculty, and staff.
The event organizers highlighted that instead of discriminating and dividing, individuals are stronger when they come together to celebrate and share their differences. By embracing diversity and fostering a culture of inclusion, TAU continues to pave the way for a brighter and more equitable future for all. This festival is a powerful reminder of the importance of this message in building a sustainable and vibrant academic community.ย
On its second day, TAU students, faculty and staff participated in the Pride March with powerful statements written on their placards turning the streets of the University into a canvas painted with a myriad of colors, symbolizing the unwavering support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
As the parade made its way to the Continuing Education Center, the students participated in a LIPSYNC Battle, accessibility and awareness games to raise awareness about the experiences of the โother-abled people,โ and community artwork activities. Facilitators also hosted a HOLI lunch โ a festival of colors where TAU students prepared colorful meals and Indian students showcased their delicacies.
โBeyond the Rainbow 2024โ is a testament to TAU's commitment to creating and sustaining a welcoming and all-embracing community where individuals from all walks of life are recognized and valued.ย
