The Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) from Digos City, Davao del Sur visited Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) on 31 July to benchmark TAU’s best practices and earn insights about the University’s participation in various world reputable university rankings.

The delegation consisted of twenty (20) DSSC officials was able to learn TAU’s operation to participate in various university rankings in 2024 such as the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking where TAU garnered its 801-1000th rank, the World University Ranking for Innovation (WURI) – Global Top 300 Innovative Universities at 110th place, and the 2023 UI Greenmetric World University Ranking at 477th among others.

Dr. Benny S. Soliman, Director of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA), officially welcomed the visitors and introduced the TAU Officials led by Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, SUC President IV. Dr. Sonny DC. Torres, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Dr. Edmar N. Franquera, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training (VPRET) gave their warm messages to DSSC Officials at the Office of the University President (OUP) Conference room.

On the other hand, Dr. Ana Marie J. Matalines, Head of the International Affairs and Relations Office of DSSC, presented their academic leaders headed by their University President, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes along with Dr. Siverlyn M. Camposano, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Dr. Luciano D. Nasibog Jr., Vice President for Admin and Finance (VPAF). The DSSC representatives also included the Board Secretary, College Deans, Directors, Head Offices, Librarian, and Quality Assurance Officer.

After their courtesy visit at the OUP Conference room, DSSC officials were escorted by TAU faculty members and staff. They visited the SMART Agriculture Center, Engineered Bamboo Project, Root Crops Research and Training Center (RRTC), Research and Development (R&D), Office of the Curriculum and Instruction (OCI), External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) office, University Library, Management and Information System (MIS), Academic Affairs office, Student Affairs and Services office as well as the different colleges of TAU.

From this collaborative visit, both universities exchanged insights of their quality practices and principles in terms of research and development, internationalization initiatives, and educational feats that have driven both TAU and DSSC to becoming globally competitive HEIs.
