Collaborating to create a film designed for agriculture, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) - Tarlac Province and Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) representing its College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Development Communication, inked partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the Office of the University President - Conference Room on January 27, 2025.

The ceremonial signing was spearheaded by Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, TAU President, along with Dr. Sonny DC. Torres, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA) and Dr. Sherwin S. Alar, Dean of CAS.

Additionally, the activity was joined by Dr. Sheila R. Lingaya, Assistant Director and Chief for International Mobility of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA); Ms. Caroline N. Gabis, Chief for Partnership Development of ELIA; CAS faculty members and ELIA staff.

Meanwhile, DAR was represented by Ms. Garland Leila A. Cuarteros, Provincial Agrarian reform Program Officer II accompanied by Ms. Maria Teresa A. Mina, OIC-Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer I and Mr. Gerald A. Fontanoza, DAR-Tarlac Representative.

Said collaboration will provide an opportunity for the Development Communication students in a short film competition, the DAR Central and Regional Film Festival 2025 (DARCRFF 2025) bearing the theme, β€œPag-ani sa mga Pangarap: Mga Kwento ng Pag-Asa at Tagumpay sa Agraryo (Harvest of Dreams: Agrarian Stories of Hope and Success).”

Furthermore, this initiative is a pivotal role for both parties’ interest to intensify and showcase Tarlac’s agricultural economy and development. With this inked collaboration, TAU and DAR - Tarlac also look forward to having this short film reflect the importance of the agricultural industry in the region.
