The Golden Harvest (GH), the official tertiary student publication of Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), bagged five awards in the recently concluded 3rd Young Journalist Press Freedom Congress (YJPFC) organized by the Association of Tertiary School Paper Advisers of Region III (ATSPAR III), Incorporated at Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) Sumacab Campus, August 30.
Β
GH marked their debut with Ella Mae Artates' Development Communication article featuring Willy Santos, as second Best Feature for the A-List E-Magazine and fourth for Best Development Communication (DevComm) Entry in the A-List Social Media competition.
Β
β€œThis win is not mine alone kundi para rin sa buong GH,” Artates said in an online interview.
Β
β€œSuper saya at thankful ko kasi hindi lang isa kundi dalawang awards 'yong nauwi ko lalo na at first DevComm article ko 'yon,” she added.
Β
Moreover, Karl Bryon Antonio also notched the 8th place for Best Sports entry in the A-list Social Media competition.
Β
Adding to GH’s milestone, the publication secured spots for A-list E-Magazine Opinion and Cover Page category, claiming the fifth and tenth place, respectively.
Β
β€œI am very proud doon sa mga naging output ninyo [E-Vertical Short Form Video, E-broadcasting, E-Magazine, and Social Media Entry] and what I can say about it is, it’s not a beginner's luck. I believe na yun ay produkto ng inyong persistence, practice, and willingness to learn from experience and failure,” GH Adviser, Sharlene Mae M. Domingo, expressed.
Β
Meanwhile, to further elevate their journalism skills, 14 student journalists representing GH participated in different workshops and seminars in the said event such as Investigative Writing, Mobile Journalism, Branding Design, Video Production, Digital Art, and Social Media along with the participating student publications from across Central Luzon.
