MMSU invites TAU, other allies for development in unveiling of Rice Paddy Art featuring PBBM

Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, President of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), extended an invitation to Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) to the launching of Rice Paddy Art with the image of His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. (PBBM), President of the Republic of the Philippines, alongside his Bagong Pilipinas slogan on 11 September.

Leading the 50-strong TAU delegation were Dr. Max P. Guillermo, TAU President, Dr. Yolanda S. Guillermo, OIC Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training, and Ms. Yolanda F. Juan, OIC Vice President for Finance and Administration.

In his speech at Teatro Ilocandia, PBBM commended all state-supported agricultural institutions, especially MMSU and Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), for their enduring collaborations in the improvement of rice production due to research and development but also expressed his concern over technological scaling. “How do you move the new technology from the laboratory to the market?” PBBM asked.

The event aligned with the celebration of the 106th birth anniversary of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr. It was also honored by First Lady Liza Marcos, Senior Deputy Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte First District Representative Sandro Marcos, and Provincial Governor Matthew Manotoc.

According to the MMSU website, the rice paddy painting was created by using IR 1552 as the medium and NSIC Rc 222 for the green canvas. The farmers used the anamorphosis concept, a technique often used in 3D graphics to produce the paddy artwork when viewed from a specific angle.
