The long wait is over.

After weeks of anticipation, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) has been awarded the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) Recertification status on 15 December 2024 after the official certificate was released on 14 January 2025.

It can be recalled that during the closing meeting at the Bamboo Training Center (BTC) on 9 December, external auditors Dr. Jovertlee C. Pudan and Dr. Dante C. Bo communicated the findings to the top management and concerned personnel. Although there were no nonconformities recorded, opportunities for improvement were recommended.

Earlier that day, the Office of the Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance (OVPQA), Quality Assurance (QA) Office, and the resource speakers/ auditors facilitated a meeting about aligning organizational strategies with the requirements of ISO 9001 to strengthen the QMS. Discussions began with an overview of the organization's context, identifying the needs and expectations of interested parties, and defining the scope of the management system. Leadership and commitment were also emphasized, particularly in fostering a customer-focused approach and adhering to the QMS policy.

Also, officials and representatives from various offices underwent a full-day audit focusing on key aspects of ISO 9001 standards. The audit covered areas such as the understanding of the organization's context, the needs and expectations of interested parties, and the scope of the management system.

The audit also assessed operational planning, as well as the monitoring, measurement, and analysis of performance. Compliance evaluation and the management review process were scrutinized to ensure continuous improvement in the system.

TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson congratulated the entire TAU community for successfully accomplishing the tasks despite the hectic schedule of activities and deliverables. "We must commit to quality and continuous improvement through periodic management reviews,” Dr. Salunson emphasized.
