Celebrating another historic moment, Tarlac Agricultural Universityโ€™s College of Education (TAU-CEd) announced to the public, 14 November, through the Facebook post of CEd Dean Dr. Claire Anne A. Olivares, the extension of its Center of Excellence (CoE) designation by the Department of Educationโ€™s (DepEd) Teacher Education Council (TEC).

In a letter sent by the TEC Secretariat. TAU-CEd was informed of the Councilโ€™s decision to honor the University by granting it one more year of CoE standing starting from 1 November 2024 to 30 November 2025.

In the same notice of award, TEC notified TAU-CEd of its roles to provide assistance in the creation of new performance standards and guidelines for next CoE citation recipients, enhancement of the pre-service teacher education curriculum, and the appointment of a permanent focal person. TAU-CEd was also invited to the ceremonial awarding and meeting at the DepEd Central Office in Pasig City on 27 November.

Meanwhile, Dr. Olivares recognized CEdโ€™s โ€œdedicated faculty, hardworking students, and supportive community who have made this achievement possibleโ€ as she called for the continuation of CEdโ€™s tradition of excellence in teacher education.

โ€œThis recognition reaffirms our commitment to providing high-quality education, fostering brilliant minds, and shaping the future of teaching and learning,โ€ Dr. Olivares said, reiterating CEdโ€™s pledge to advance TAUโ€™s long-term vision. TAU-CEd was first awarded the CoE distinction in 2016.

Moreover, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office III (CHEdRO III) also recently commended TAU-CEd for producing a topnotcher in the March 2024 Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT). The College also posted overall passing rates higher than the national averages in both the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) programs in the same BLEPT edition.
