In a proactive step to uplift men as part of Tarlac Agricultural Universityโ€™s (TAU) women empowerment program, the TAU Gender and Development (GAD) Office led by its Director Dr. Ma Theresa B. Nardo, spearheaded an orientation and discussion forum for male employees of TAU at the Continuing Education Center (CEC), 14 March.

Anchored on the theme GAD Advocacy - MOVE KATROPA (Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere - Kalalakihang Tapat at Responsable sa Pamilya), the seminar titled โ€œEmpowering Men as Allies for Women Empowermentโ€ aimed to educate the participants on the gender-biased violence and promote alliance for the welfare of women in the society, regardless of preferences and differences.

A seasoned speaker, Prof. King David J. Agreda, focused on the crucial topics on gender confusion, gender stereotypes, and the role of men in ending gender-based sexual harassment. Prof Agreda also emphasized the statistics of VAW (Violence Against Women) in the Philippines and provided insights and strategies to prevent violence in the community.

After the question and answer session, the participants proceeded with the sharing of feedback and officially wrapped up with the election of the first TAU MOVE-KATROPA organization.

Dr. Angelo P. Guillermo, the newly-elected President, expressed his gratitude and shared his advocacy, drawing his inspiration from the insights he gained from the lecture sessions. โ€œWe will start with projects that support women to stop violence and demonstrate responsible men as allies in the community,โ€ he shared while emphasizing his personal commitment to promoting solidarity.
