Dr. Maria Teresa SJ. Valdez and Dr. Noel J. Petero earned recognition as the best paper presenters in the Technical Research and Development Category and Social Science Research Category respectively during the 29^th Annual Agency In-house Review of Completed and On-Going Research and Development Projects held at the Agritourism Hostel Function Hall on August 15, 2018.

Dr. Valdez earned a commendation from the panel of evaluators when she presented their research titled “Production and Evaluation of High-Protein Fermented Sweetpotato (ProEn-K) as Feed Ingredient for Economically Important Aquatic Organisms.” Also, the said paper has been presented in the 29th Regional Symposium on R&D Highlights on August 28, 2018 and TAU was the host.

In the Social Science Category, Dr. Petero presented their research titled “Students’ Satisfaction Survey of the Tarlac Agricultural University: Basis in the Preparation of Action Plan.” The said research also earned a commendation from the panel of evaluators. Further suggestions were also provided by the critics to utilize the result of the presented study in strategizing the development and action plan of the University

In the Development Category, Dr. Narceo B. Bajet (Balik Scientist Program); Prof. Jamal James Manlapig and Dr. Tomas D. Gajete from Central Luzon State University served as the panel of evaluators. During the assessment, the panel and the presenters observed the criteria for selecting the best papers in terms of the significance of the findings, methodology, and presentation. To determine the relevance of the results, evaluators determined the best research paper that may contribute to national/regional development, productivity and cost-effectiveness. The evaluators also considered the acceptability of the technology to the end-users. Adequacy and efficiency of design and procedure as well the innovativeness of the research methodology used were also evaluated. Clarity, style, cogency and logical presentation were also relevant concerns of the evaluators in selecting the best paper presentation.

In the Development Category, Dr. Yolanda S. Guillermo presented her research titled “An Assessment on the Effect of the Blended Course on School on the Air (SOA) ad Season Long Training of Trainers on Rice-Based Integrated Farming System with NC II."

Researchers with ongoing researches had the opportunity to present their work. Dr. Tessie E. Navarro presented her research titled “National Cooperative Testing (NCT) for Legumes (Mungbean and Peanut, DS 2017-2018). Secondly, Dr. Edmar Franquera presented his research titled “ It Wasn’t Too Late to Decontaminate: Potential of Common Duckweeds (Lemna Minor) in Wastewater Treatments and Rice Production.” Dr. Joel B. Ellamar presented the research titled “Bioconversion of Lignocellulosic Agricultural By-Products into High Mycoprotein Biomass.” Lastly, Mr. Ruben R. Parazo presented his research “Optimization of SQL (Standard Query Language) Queries Employing Decomposition and Referencing Technique.

Meanwhile, the panel of evaluators in the Social Science Category was composed of Dr. Philip B. Ibarra, the former president of TCA and currently consultant at the Office of the Governor of Tarlac; Dr. Eleanor G. Hilario, the former Vice President for Academic Affairs of TCA and currently Vice President in Central Luzon Doctors’ Hospital-Educational Institute; Dr. Maria Teresa SJ. Valdez, the Coordinator of the Graduate Program Office of TAU; and Dr. Arnold E. Velasco, Director of Admission and Registration Services. The criteria for judging the best paper presentation in the Social Science Category includes the significance, timeliness, and impact of the study. The adequacy and efficiency of the research methodology and its innovativeness were also considered. Clarity, style, cogency and logical presentation were also significant factors considered by the evaluators in selecting the best paper presenters.

For the Ongoing Research Category, Engr. Benjie Dela Vega presented the updates on their research work titled "Geographic Profiling of Secondary Schools in Santa Ignacia: Basis in Proposing Site Development Plan." He earned a commendation from the panel. According to Dr. Valdez, one of the evaluators, the said development plan is a promising research project. The evaluators also suggested that the researchers must determine the timeframe to finish the said project.

The Annual In-house Review, which was spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension & Training (OVPRET), Research & Development (R&D), Department of Extension and Training (DET), and Rootcrops and Training Center (RTC), served as venue for showcasing researches conducted and technologies developed by the TAU senior and junior researchers.
