A powerhouse team Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) made waves at the historic opening of the State Colleges and Universities Faculty Association of Region III (SCUFAR III) Sports and Cultural Festival, hosted for the first time by Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) at the Costa Pacifica Pavilion in Baler, Aurora on 20 May.ย ย
Under the theme โWaves and Peaks: Elevating Culture of Unity Among SUCs Through Nature and Sports Activities,โ TAUโs presence underscored its commitment to fostering regional collaboration and excellence across Central Luzon.
Led by TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, the University fielded a contingent of 106 faculty and staff. Dr. Salunson was joined by 13 SUC Presidents in Region III. The event was also honored by Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) Commissioner Dr. Desiderio R. Apag III and CHEdRO III Regional Director Dr. Lora L. Yusi.
The festival featured cultural showcases such as fire dancing by performers from ASCOT and Central Luzon State University (CLSU). The symbolic torch-lighting ceremony, led by CHED officials, further energized the TAUians who vowed to compete with integrity and sportsmanship.
As the opener closed with a colorful fireworks display over Balerโs coastline, TAUโs Beach Body contestants dazzled the crowd with their runway walk and charming smiles.
For succeeding days, TAUians will stand as one, mirroring the SCUFAR IIIโs theme of solidarity through heritage and athletic games. With competitions ahead, the Universityโs active participation in the kickoff positions it as a key contender and collaborative partner in this annual regional event.
