Β
Recognizing the importance of investing in its employeesβ professional development and career advancement, and committed to providing its personnel with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in their careers, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) conducted a month-long Intensive Review for the Civil Service Examination - Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) for non-teaching personnel which started on 10 July and will end on 8 August.
Β
Initiated by the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), in partnership with the Non-Academic Staff Association (NASA) and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), the said review aimed to help TAU non-teaching personnel under contract of service (COS) and Job Order (JO) statuses to earn their respective eligibility to comply with the minimum qualifications to be able to become tenured and/or upgraded from their positions. It is also expected to provide the attendees with the necessary knowledge and skills in preparation for the upcoming CSE-PPT on 11 August.
Β
For the review sessions, competent lecturers were invited to provide the participants with comprehensive lectures about relevant updates on questions that are usually coming out in the CSE.
Β
Dr. Esmeralda P. Rodriquez, the Language Department chief from CAS, served as a resource speaker for Vocabulary, Grammar, and Correct Usage as well as in Paragraph Organization and Reading Comprehension. Mr. Joji U. Cabatic, Information Officer II from the Office of the President (OP) - Information Unit (IU), lectured on logic and data interpretation, and word association and identifying assumptions and conclusions.
Β
Other CAS faculty members who also served as resource persons included Ms. Angelica N. Balmocena, who talked about basic operations; Mr. Romeo N. Nazaire Jr., who lectured on word problems; Ms. Leslie C. Lopez, who discussed filing, spelling and clerical operations; and, Ms. Mary Anne R. Naelgas and Mr. Rommel Ibarra who tackled general information on Philippine Constitution, peace and human rights issues and concepts, and environmental management and protection.
Β
Meanwhile, Ms. Yolanda F. Juan, TAU's Chief Administrative Officer for Administration (CAO-Admin), served as the reviewer for the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (R. A. 6713).
Β
Conducted twice a year by the Civil Service Commission (CSC), the CSE is a national exam that assesses the competency and qualification of individuals seeking employment in the public sector. It comprises two levels: sub-professional, for those seeking first-level government roles in clerical and administrative fields, and professional, allowing passers to apply for both first- and second-level government positions, providing opportunities in clerical and managerial positions.
Β
With the University's conduct of the intensive review, it is hoped that COS and JO personnel have a better chance of passing the exam and securing their positions in the public sector.
