Solidifying its role as the Global Citizenship Education (GCEd) hub of Region 3, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) - College of Education (CEd) organized the 2nd GCED Research Conference 2025 with the theme “Beyond Four Walls: Redefining Basic and Higher Education through Global Insights” via Zoom on 15-16 May.
Bringing together educators, school administrators, and CEd graduate program students, the conference equipped the participants with cross-cultural teaching skills, expanding role in GCEd through plenary sessions focusing on technology and linkages, policy frameworks, equity and access, curriculum innovation, and localized adaptations of educational models .
In collaboration with West Mindanao State University (WMSU), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Universitas Mataram in Indonesia, and DepEd Tarlac Province, said conference also sought to develop strategies and integrate GCEd into basic and higher education systems.
After the breakout sessions, a series of research presentations followed during the second day of the program where Mr. Cris Wendell O. Pinto received the Best Presenter award for his study “English Teachers’ Beliefs and Practices in Teaching Reading Fluency and Comprehension: Basis for a Reading Program.” His research analyzed pedagogical strategies for enhancing literacy instruction in Philippine classrooms. Meanwhile, Ms. Janneth O. Sinobago earned recognition for her paper titled “Improving the Problem-Solving Skills of Grade 11 Students in Rational Functions Using Magnetic Quadroplot,” which demonstrated how a tactile learning tool boosted mathematical proficiency.
The research conference is designed to advance GCEd through linkages, collaboration, and innovation in curriculum development. Through GCEd symposiums, TAU and its partner institutions have the opportunity to share strategies in cross-cultural teaching practices and research development.
During her speech, Dr. Claire Anne A. Olivares, CEd Dean, emphasized that education knows no borders when educators unite and urges the researchers to expand their reach beyond traditional academic frameworks. “Let these insights inspire classrooms worldwide to cultivate thinkers who shape societies, not just serve them,” she added.
