๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ | Strengthening University-wide GAD policy adoption, GFPS members undergo training
ย
The Gender and Development (GAD) Office of the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), headed by its Director, Dr. Ma Theresa B. Nardo, spearheaded a planning workshop titled โFacilitating Gender Sensitivity Planning Workshop and Team-Building of GAD Focal Point System Members and Coordinatorsโ at the Universityโs Bamboo Training Center (BTC) Function Hall, 23-24 July.
ย
Guided by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 01, series 2015, the TAU - GAD Office supports the mandate to strengthen the Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) to accelerate gender mainstreaming and continue being responsive to the challenges and opportunities within the University and in the community.
ย
The former GAD Director, Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, who is now detailed as the new Director at the Office of the Student Services and Development (OSSD), served as the resource speaker in the two-day workshop and showcased her expertise and insights on integrating various tools like GAD Focal Point System Functionality Assessment Tool for National Government Agencies provided by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) to monitor the progress of gender mainstreaming and identify the areas for enhancement.
ย
The levels of functionality based on the said tool are as follows: 50-65 - Established; 66-85 Functional; and 86-100 Fully Functional. The scores are gained from (3) three different parameters such as: Structure and Composition of the GFPS; Fulfillment of GFPS Roles and Functions based on Structure; and GAD-Related Competencies of GFPS members. TAU gained a score of 52.5 which was defined as โEstablishedโ based on the said tool.
ย
The GFPS is now working to develop more strategies and to comply with the requirements stipulated in the PCW MC 2011-01 to establish a functional level based on the evaluation instrument for national government agencies.
