Through the efforts of Tarlac Agricultural University’s (TAU) Department of Research and Development (DRD), 15 Research and Development (RND) projects have been subjected for evaluation by seasoned external researchers during the 35th Annual Agency In-House Review of Completed and Ongoing Research and Development Projects at the Farmers’ Training Center, 2 August.

Dr. Franz Marielle N. Garcia, Associate Professor V, and Dr. Joice San Andres, Associate Professor V, both from Central Luzon State University (CLSU), and Dr. Ma. Teresa SJ. Valdez, former Professor VI from TAU, served as evaluators.

Dr. Maria Elena T. Caguioa, RND director, underscored in her opener the importance of the activity in ensuring that the University remains committed to its mandate to generate knowledge through research. Further, Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, TAU president, highlighted in his message the role of high-impact research in TAU's placement in most reputable university rankings and nation-building. β€œAs a full-fledged university, TAU has a distinct role not only to share but to generate knowledge. Whether in agriculture and related fields or social sciences, TAU must harness the power of research to improve technologies, develop and enhance processes, and transform sectors through research breakthroughs,” Dr. Salunson conveyed.

For the Best Paper, the entry, Off-Season Tomato (Kamlong) Production Technology Towards Enterprise Development, presented by Ms. Linda Mae A. Fernandez prevailed in the development category, while the research Delineation of Micronutrient Deficient Zones in Agricultural Soils of Santa Ignacia, presented by Mr. Eric Lindbergh C. Inovejas ruled in the research category.

In addition, the Assessment of Mental Health Milieu of the Tarlac Agricultural University: Basis in Formulating Mental Health Policy and Program, presented by Ms. Abigail O. Manaloto, was proclaimed as the best paper in the social/ education category whereas Dr. Amy Lizbeth J. Rico received the Best Poster award for her study titled Satellite-Integrated Crop Monitoring and Forecasting System for Agriculture and Technology (SICAT).
