Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) is proudly hosting this year’s State Universities and Colleges (SUC) III Olympics. The entire TAU community, from administrators to faculty and staff, is united in ensuring the success of this regional spectacle, which will run from 19 May to 24 May.

The preparations for the SUC III Olympics at TAU are marked by meticulous planning and thorough coordination. Ms. Yolanda F. Juan, Chief Administrative Officer and OIC Vice President for Finance and Administration, provided insights into the extensive efforts to guarantee the safety and security of all delegates. "TAU is no longer new to this kind of event. Last year, the University hosted three major events: SUC III Olympics, ASCU-SN Summer Olympics, and the National SCUAA. We can confidently say that TAU is prepared to host another regional sports event," Ms. Juan shared.
With the issuance of the office memorandum establishing the working committees, each committee promptly convened to identify various scenarios that would guide their planning and preparations. This involved close coordination with local government units (LGUs), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), rural health units, tertiary hospitals, and other stakeholders. Such collaborations are crucial to ensure adequate sports venues and lodging accommodations for all participants.
Β
The university’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) is well-prepared to handle health and safety issues, having activated the Incident Command System. This system includes trained emergency responders among TAU’s employees who are ready to address emergencies. "Their safety is also our foremost concern," Ms. Juan emphasized. Additionally, there is ongoing coordination with the medical teams of each participating SUCs to enable a swift and coordinated response in the event of accidents, whether on the field or within the participants' quarters. This comprehensive approach ensures that all aspects of safety and well-being are addressed.
The SUC III Olympics rely heavily on community involvement. TAU's interaction with local stakeholders demonstrates its commitment to becoming more than just an educational institution; it is also a key player in regional development and multisectoral activities.
Β
Hosting the SUC III Olympics allows TAU to showcase once again its remarkable organizational capabilities and dedication to nurturing sports excellence. As preparations continue, the entire TAU community looks forward to hosting participants and demonstrating the university's commitment to holistic excellence of its students.
