After five years, The Golden Harvest (GH), Tarlac Agricultural Universityโs (TAU) official tertiary student organ, has returned to the Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) to share its journalistic advocacy and hone the skills of its editors and staff.ย
The LHEPCโs 20th edition, held at Batis Aramin Resort in Lucban, Quezon Province on 1-4 April, brought together 152 campus publications from eight regions, with 1,075 delegates, including student journalists, press advisers, and moderators, competing in various categories.
In the Group Category, GHโs magazine, Inyang, secured Top 10 finish in the Development Communication Page, mirroring the publicationโs mission to pursue creative and impactful storytelling to promote the welfare of disenfranchised communities. GH also fielded newsletter and literary folio entries, though Region IV-A (CaLaBaRZon) emerged as the dominant force, sweeping most of the awards.
GH also celebrated victories in Individual Categories. John Bernard D. Doria from the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) clinched 4th Place in Digital Editorial Cartooning (Filipino), while Reina Jyneh L. Sapigao from the College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) earned 10th Place in Traditional Editorial Cartooning (English).ย
โLHEPC was instrumental in pushing myself to exert more efforts to improve GH and achieve its primary goal which is to serve the studentry through brave, independent, and true campus journalism,โ Jayron Mark R. Dela Cruz, Editor-in-Chief, said.
Reportedly, the next LHEPC will be hosted by Region I (Ilocos Region), providing another avenue for campus journalists to showcase their talents and collaborate with their peers across Luzon.
