A representative from the Commission on Higher Education - Regional Office III (CHEDRO III) Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) visited Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) on 26 June to evaluate its documents and facilities in preparation for the opening of the Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science (BSESS) degree program.
Β
Dr. Anatalia N. Endozo from Angeles University Foundation (AUF) represented CHEDRO III - RQAT in the opening session. She was greeted by University President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson who expressed his full support for the BSESS program. β€œThe BS Exercise and Sports Science will catapult TAU to become not just a favored host of sporting events but also a leader in academic excellence in sports and related disciplines,” Dr. Salunson said.
Β
Dr. Salunson also stressed the importance of giving students more career choices. β€œWe are allowing students to explore and discover their passions. This educational diversity enhances career preparation by honing skills, encouraging interdisciplinary learning, and promoting personal development,” Dr. Salunson explained.
Β
Also present during the preliminary conference at the Office of the President (OP) Conference Room were Dr. Sonny DC. Torres, OIC vice president for Academic Affairs (OVPAA); Dr. Arnold R. Lorenzo, OIC vice president for finance and administration (OVPFA); and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) dean Dr. Sherwin S. Alar,

Before analyzing the files, Dr. Endozo conducted an ocular inspection of TAU’s physical plant and laboratories. Assisted by the BSESS Team involving Prof. Lorena P. Bermillo, former director of Sports Development Office (SDO); Mr. Angelo P. Guillermo, SDO assistant director; and several members of the Physical Education (PE) teaching force, the representative from RQAT surveyed the complex of sporting and academic infrastructure to establish and verify the University’s readiness.
Β
During the closing meeting, Dr. Endozo commended the University for its willingness and preparedness. β€œKumpleto po ang documents and facilities. May mga minimal suggestions lang po which I will also relay to CHEDRO,” Dr. Endozo told some members of CAS faculty and Administrative Council (AdCo).
Β
Moreover, Dr. Alar thanked Dr. Endozo for her insights and shared that he is planning to offer BSESS this upcoming academic year. β€œThe spirit of the team is high. We’re excited to welcome the first batch of BSESS students, hopefully this August,” Dr. Alar remarked.
Β
Once the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) is issued, CAS then can start a special admission process for BSESS applicants, especially that the TAU College Admission Test (CAT) was already administered and qualified applicants for existing courses are already in the advanced stages of admission.
