𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐍 𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐒 | Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) collaborates with the Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) to launch the first-ever Mobile Soil Laboratory (MSL) from 27-30 January in front of the Gilberto O. Teodoro Multipurpose Center. Said initiative, supported by DA-BSWM’s Laboratory Services Division (LSD) and Soil Survey Division (SSD), aims to assist farmers and agricultural stakeholders in Tarlac.
Β
The MSL, a 10-wheeler truck equipped with advanced tools, provides on-site soil testing services to assess soil health and fertility. Open to farmers, Local Government Units (LGUs), and other stakeholders, the project also engages Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) students from TAU’s College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF), led by Ms. Virginia Isabelle M. Candal, Instructor III.
Β
To ensure the success of the initiative, Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, University President, and the Director of BSWM Director, Dr. Gina P. Nilo, visit the site to oversee the implementation of the MSL. Using test kits, the team collects soil samples to deliver fertilizer recommendations, update the province’s soil fertility map, empower farmers with soil and nutrient management insights, and monitor soil health. This data-driven initiative seeks to boost agricultural productivity and promote environmental sustainability in Tarlac.
