DET is mandated to spur rural development in Tarlac Province and Central Luzon, through programs geared toward enhancing food security, poverty alleviation, policymaking, productivity, and competitiveness. It also innovates and assesses extension strategies for small farmers and members of marginalized sectors.

Salunson, who is attending the Philippines Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Annual Convention and General Assembly, reminds the University community to observe cleanliness by sharing an anecdote about former Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) President and former Tarlac College of Agriculture (TCA) Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA), Dr. Honorio M. Soriano, whose habit of picking litter and leading by example he finds worthy of emulation.
