๐‚๐€๐๐“๐”๐‘๐„๐ƒ ๐ˆ๐ ๐‹๐„๐๐’ | Faculty members from Tarlac Agricultural Universityโ€™s College of Arts and Sciences (TAU-CAS) visit Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technologyโ€™s Regional Center for Indigenous Peoples Education (NEUST-ReCIPE), on 7 August, to know more about NEUSTโ€™s secrets behind a well-established Indigenous Peoples (IP) Center.
ย
This is a significant milestone in TAUโ€™s plan to establish its own IP center that will ignite new hope to the lives of the indigenous people in Tarlac Province. This initiative of creating an IP Center at TAU resonates deeply with the Commission on Higher Education's (CHED) heed for universities "to foster understanding and appreciation of IP culture."
ย
Dr. Vilma B. Ramos, who heads NEUST-ReCIPE, welcomes the TAU representatives and shares her experiences while at the same time showing support as she recognizes great potential in what TAU has started.
ย
Moreover, the TAU-CAS team also pays a visit to Dr. Donato B. Bumacas, DMO V, Provincial Officer of Nueva Ecija for National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) who emphasizes the crucial role of academic institutions in bridging the gap between traditional knowledge and modern education.
ย
On returning home, the team, headed by Dr. Sherwin S. Alar, TAU-CAS dean, immediately begins preparing activities and projects that would bring about the TAU IP Center to life and integrate indigenous education into its curricula.
