Although the typhoon Kristine caused delays in school calendar, the Forestry Student Organization (FSO), a student body organization of Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSD) students, still conducts the activities of the Philippine Bamboo Month with the theme β€œBuhay Kawayan: Haligi ng Industriya’t Kalikasan, Pag-asa sa Kinabukasan,” that brings together 330 forestry students, faculty and staff, and 50 participants from different cooperating offices.
Β
The FSO sets up a poster/slogan-making, a β€œsayawit” contest, bamboo shoot cooking exhibition, and a seminar in Comparative Growth Performance of Black Bamboo and Kawayan Tinik Culm, which includes branch cutting using different concoction treatments. The Forestry students also install a booth, selling crafts made of bamboo.
