Selamat pagi!
More than the usual courtesy, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) global ambassadors learned about Indonesia’s heritage during the Fun Bahasa Indonesia and Cultural Course (FBICC) offered by the Institut Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya from November 2021 to January 2022.
Two students from TAU - College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) joined hundreds of scholars across the world. BS Agriculture students, Ms. Melanie R. Waje and Mr. Tirso L. Renante Jr., studied language lessons necessary for travel, shopping, and daily interaction.
“We were taught about the basics in pronunciation and syntax of Bahasa Indonesia,” Ms. Waje affirmed. She also appreciated how the Indonesians value their history and tradition. “They are very proud of their literature, values, and customs. It’s something I believe we should emulate here in the Philippines,” she added.
Divided in 12 sessions, with 90 minutes allotted for each meeting, FBICC also showcased traditional dances and a virtual tour of the city of Surabaya .
ITS, a public technological university in East Java, was listed 64th globally and first in Indonesia in the latest Times Higher Education Impact Ranking.
