Like arrows released with purpose, the womenβs archery team of Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) continues to draw strength, focus, and pride as they represent the University with precision and heart. In archery, every breath matters, every stance counts, and every arrowβs release tells a story and for these young women, their stories are deeply rooted in passion, perseverance, and the support of the TAU community.
Hazel Joy D. Daliva, a 2nd year student from the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) and a proud resident of Camiling, Tarlac, embodies the quiet focus of a seasoned archer. Her journey in sports began as early as elementary, where she first found joy in badminton. It was in high school, however, that she discovered archery, a sport that demanded not only physical skill but also mental discipline.Β
Competing in various tournaments, Hazel Joy learned that success, much like hitting the bullseye, requires balance. She firmly believes that surrounding oneself with positive and encouraging people is key to excelling both in academics and in sports principle she continues to live by as she wears the TAU colors with pride.
From Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac, Hazel Denisse B. Gragasin charts her own inspiring path. A 3rd year student of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), taking up Bachelor of Science in Psychology, she spent her early years immersed in sports, particularly volleyball, from elementary to high school. Her shift to archery came when she entered college, sparked by the influence of a close friend who introduced her to the sport. This friendship proved to be a turning point highlighting how the right influence can redirect oneβs path and unlock hidden potential. In archery, Hazel Denisse found a new way to channel her competitive spirit, proving that sometimes, one nudge from a friend can set an arrow flying toward a new dream.
Completing the trio is Mirlee Valerie S. Balagso, a 4th year student from the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), hailing from Mayantoc, Tarlac. Among the team, Mirlee Valerie takes pride in her diverse athletic background. She was introduced early to various ball games from volleyball to basketball during her elementary years, later developing an interest in cycling before eventually embracing archery. Her journey reflects versatility and adaptability, qualities that serve her well on the shooting line. Each arrow she releases carries lessons from every sport she has tried, blending strength, endurance, and focus into one steady shot.
Behind every well-aimed arrow is a guiding hand, and for the TAU womenβs archery team, their coach Mr. Von Bismarck Ortiz, stands as their greatest inspiration. Described as dedicated, hardworking, and deeply caring, he is more than a mentor; he is the wind beneath their arrows. With tireless commitment, he sharpens not only their technical skills but also their confidence and character. Under his guidance, the team has learned that archery is not just about hitting targets, but about discipline, trust, and believing in oneself even before the arrow leaves the bow.
As they continue to aim higher, the TAU women archers remind us that with focus, friendship, and faithful mentorship, every shot no matter how challenging the distance, can find its mark.
