In a strategic move to bolster its global standing in sustainable development, innovation, and international collaboration, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) hosted the "Workshop on THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026" at the TAU Agri-Tourism Hostel Function Hall on 15 October.ย

The day-long event, carrying the theme "Building a Sustainable Global Presence through Academic Excellence and Societal Impact," convened the members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) and Secretariat, signaling a proactive institutional effort to systematize its sustainability reporting and performance appraisal.

The workshop agenda, crafted by the External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) office, outlined a comprehensive journey for participants. The day commenced with a formal opening ceremony, followed by a pivotal session detailing "TAU's THE Impact Ranking Journey," presented by Mr. Julius C. Consul. This presentation provided crucial context and lessons learned from the University's previous participation in the global rankings.

A core technical segment of the workshop was dedicated to the "THE Sustainability Impact Rating Methodology," led by Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, ELIA Director, and Mr. Consul. This segment is designed to equip TAU's Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) TWG and secretariat with the precise knowledge and tools required for the rigorous data collection and submission process for the 2026 ratings.

The afternoon transitioned into an intensive workshop proper, where the TAUโ€™s TWG directly applied the acquired methodology. This hands-on component is critical for aligning the University's diverse initiatives with the specific metrics used by THE, ensuring that TAU's substantial community and environmental contributions are effectively captured and reflected.

The participation of key university officials underscores leadership support for this initiative. TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson delivered a message to inspire participants to โ€œaggressively promote a culture of continuous innovation.โ€ย

โ€œWe cannot stand still. We must encourage smart risks and empower our community to challenge conventions and pioneer novel solutions for a better world,โ€ Dr. Salunson imparted in his message, stressing the value of TAU-led ventures in local, national, and even international development.

The workshop culminated in the presentation of initial outputs and the identification of concrete ways forward, ensuring that the day's efforts are translated into a clear and actionable roadmap. The event promised to be a significant step in consolidating TAU's various sustainability projects into a coherent and powerful narrative for the global stage.

Last year, TAU placed within the 1001-1500 range globally, 5th in the country, 2nd in Central Luzon, and 1st in Tarlac Province.
