Committed to equipping students with the skills to become globally competitive in the business sector, the College of Business and Management โ Entrepreneurship Department of Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) held a virtual training session titled โCultural Differences in Entrepreneurship: Lessons from Other Countriesโ on 17 October 2025, via Zoom.
Said training session aimed to broaden the perspectives of entrepreneurship students by exposing them to cultural and business practices shared by the resource speakers, namely Dr. Dewi Amaliah Nafiati, S.Pd., M.Si., from Universitas Pancasakti Tegal, Indonesia, and Dr. Mohammad Reyad Hossain, from Daffodil International University in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Ms. Kimberly P. Robillos, Chair of the Entrepreneurship Department, officially welcomed the participants and expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the activity. She also emphasized that the training session serves as an avenue for students to learn from and be inspired by global business perspectives.
Meanwhile, Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, Director of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA), delivered her message emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in entrepreneurial education. TAU's strong partnerships with Universitas Pancasakti Tegal in Indonesia and Daffodil International University in Bangladesh have paved the way for this initiative to promote cross-cultural learning and foster global perspectives among entrepreneurship students.
Dr. Villaruel conveyed, โThis perspective illustrates how social entrepreneurship and technology can transform communities and empower the younger generationโour students, to lead change.โ
During the learning sessions, Dr. Nafiati presented her topic โExploring Entrepreneurship from Tegal to the Global Stage: Integrating MSMEs and Entrepreneurial Values,โ where she discussed the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in Tegal including limited access to international markets, the lack of digitalization and global marketing, as well as inconsistencies in product quality and certification.
On the other hand, Dr. Hossain discussed the topic โFrom Startup to Blue Chip: Funding, Valuation, and the AI Revolution,โ where he explained how companies raise capitalโfrom private equity to initial public offerings (IPO), and examined traditional valuation models along with their inherent limitations. Also, he defined the concept of artificial intelligence in corporate valuation and illustrated how these theories can be applied through real-world cases.
In the latter part of the program, Dr. Maribel C. Ramales, Assistant Director of Gender and Development (GAD) and a faculty member of CBM, reflected on the positive impact of the event, emphasizing that it provided students with fresh insights into the business environment and an avenue to further develop their startup ventures.
This cross-cultural training reflects TAUโs commitment to fostering globally competitive entrepreneurs equipped with the knowledge, adaptability, and cultural awareness - values that are essential in todayโs interconnected business landscape.
