History

The College of Business and Management (CBM), formerly known as the Institute of Business and Management, is the youngest and one of the most dynamic colleges at the university. Established with the mission of providing high-quality business and management education, CBM is committed to shaping future leaders capable of excelling in the ever-evolving global business landscape.

The journey of the College of Business and Management (CBM) began in 1994 with the introduction of the Bachelor of Arts in Entrepreneurship, initially offered under the Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS). In 2009, in response to the evolving educational standards outlined by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through the CMO17 series of 2005, the program was upgraded to the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship. Additionally, the Institute expanded its offerings, introducing the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a major in Business Management in 2003. In line with the CMO29 series of 2006, the institute transitioned the Business Management major to Human Resource Development Management in 2008.

A pivotal moment in the college's history occurred on May 10, 2016, when Tarlac College of Agriculture (TCA) was elevated to Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU). As part of this transformation, the Institute of Business and Management (IBM) officially became the College of Business and Management (CBM) in November of the same year. This milestone marked the beginning of a new era for the college, one that saw significant growth and development under the leadership of Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, the first Dean of the College of Business and Management (CBM), who later became the President of Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU).

With a clear vision of sustainable development and a commitment to academic excellence, CBM expanded its program offerings. These included the introduction of the Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness, Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, and new majors within the BSBA program, such as Financial Management and Marketing Management. These initiatives reflect the college’s adaptive response to the changing demands of the business world, ensuring that its graduates are equipped with the skills to succeed in a variety of industries.

Guided by the unwavering leadership of Dr. Erlie SD. Totaan, who currently serves as the Dean, CBM continues to thrive and evolve. Dr. Totaan’s leadership underscores the college’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and community involvement. Under her stewardship, CBM remains dedicated to producing highly skilled and competent graduates who are prepared not only to meet the demands of the local market but to thrive on the international stage, answering the call of ASEAN integration.

Through the collective efforts of its faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders, CBM stands as a beacon of excellence in business and management education, ready to meet the challenges and opportunities of a globalized world.
